Media Release - DUAL REY GENETICS IN DEMAND

Saturday 30^th June 2012 saw Australia’s Finest Quarter Horses owned by Morning Sun Ranch, Barry & Leah Ryan go under the hammer at AELEC Tamworth NSW. For over 20 years Morning Sun Ranch has beenAustralia’s most successful Quarter Horse Stud, and the sale was a rare opportunity to purchase these exclusive bloodlines that have been meticulously selected to breed performance horses at the forefront of competition.

The sale commenced at 1pm, 59 horses in total were presented for sale
including broodmares with bloodlines of leading industry sires such as High Brow Cat, Bob Acre Doc, Cats Merada, Dual Pep, Dual Rey, Grays Starlight, Playgun
& Smart Little Lena.

It was the Dual Rey sired broodmares that were the flavour of the sale achieving the highest sale price of $42,500.

Lot 17 “Tabasco Rey” Q-70658 a 2005 drop sorrel mare PTIF to Peptos Stylish Oak sold for $38,000 to Elaine & Scott Edwards of Aberdeen NSW and Lot 50 “Reysusciatate,” Q-71980 another 2005 drop chestnut mare also PTIF to Peptos Stylish Oak sold for $35,000 to Katherine River Pastoral Co, Kim & Carole Lansdowne of Willows Gemfields Qld and Lot 53 “Reyk It In” Q-72174 a 2007 drop sorrel mare, a full sister to Tootsie Rey who has LTE of $208,905 sold to
the 7 Star Quarter Horse Company, Ray & Judy Heslin of Normanton Qld for
the sale top price of $42,500.

Lot 27 “Carbon Copy” Q-72188 was purchased by Hannaford Stud, Allan & Kathy Hannaford of Braidwood NSW for $35,000. This black colt is the only CD Lights colt in Australia from an exquisite High Brow Cat mare named “Cinder Cat Annie” Q-70150 which sold prior in the catalogue atLot 20 for $37,500 to Mark Ruff of Diggers Rest Vic.

Other high sells in the catalogue included $37,000 paid for Lot 14 “WBR Smart Lil Dually” Q-70853, a sorrel mare sired by the legendary Smart Little Lena through Charles Stewart & Co for their client John Williams of Colac in Vic. And the only other Smart Little Lena sired mare in the catalogue Lot 58 “WSR Little Lena Jane” Q-73129 sold for $35,000 through Kempsey Stock and Land to Ken & Tim McCarthy.

The major draw card of the prestigious sale was Lot 47 the imported red roan sire named “Peptos Stylish Oak,” he is sired by Peptoboonsmal from Moms Stylish Kat.

He is the most prolific son of Peptoboonsmal standing today. Producer of Futurity & Derby Champions in theUSA &Australia. 2011 top 20 Cutting Horse Sire worldwide and Peptos Stylish Oak isAustralia’s Number One Producing Sire. To date his progeny earnings are in excess of $2.5 Million Dollars.

As his sire did before him, Peptos Stylish Oak has established himself as one of the most influential sires in the performance horse industry today. He is an amazing individual and exudes a presence and strength supported by his superb pedigree.

Peptos Stylish Oak was passed in auction for $600,000 however interest parties can contact either Landmark Tamworth (02) 6765 5211 or Adam Wheeler 0427 387 348 to discuss any further queries.

The remainder of the sale catalogue consisted of weanling and yearling progeny sired by Peptos Stylish Oak from the imported mares mentioned above.

The top price weanling colt sold was Lot 51 “Titanium Cat” Q-72878 for $18,000. However he is a red roan colt sired by the USA NCHA Horse of the Year Metallic Cat from a Dual Rey mare he sold to Phil & Dawn Webb & Justin McDonald of Porters Retreat NSW and top price weanling filly sold was Lot 29 “Tabasco Girl” Q-73402, a Peptos Stylish Oak daughter from another Dual Rey sired mare Tabasco Rey, this filly sold for $16,000 to M & F Retallack of Mandurama NSW.

There has been many rumours and discussion going around over the past weeks that Peptos Stylish Oak has been sold, this is not so, though we have received many enquiries regarding Peptos Stylish Oak I can assure you that he will be presented for sale with a very realistic reserve at the Australian Equine & Livestock Events Centre in Tamworth New South Wales on June 30.
